Monday after school Mr. Smith started showing me functions of the sound board.I had already had prior knowledge on most of these functions. The knobs from top to bottom are: white are the gain, the green are the four different frequencies (high, mid, mid, and low), the first two blues are monitor one then monitor two, the next two are open on out board, and then the two whites are effects, and finally the pan. The ones I did not already know were the effects as we have never used them, the monitors, and also the pan. The bottom portion of the board is the "faders". From left to right is the stage box, hanging microphones, wireless microphones that can also be used as body microphones. The the two CD's and the laptop plug in. further right has the effects and main volume controls. The changing of wireless to body microphones is done through the channels in the back of the board.
The tower contains the power source for the microphones and the Cd's. This is also where the speakers and monitors are turned on from. The top section is where the handheld and body microphones show batter levels and signal numbers. Then a drawer where batteries and writing utensils are. Next is the Cd's and even a a cassette player. Then another drawer and the speakers.
Since on Monday Mr. Smith nor I could figure out how to make the effects work I played around with it on Tuesday. Wednesday after school Mr. Smith and I took at another look at the effects and the manual. we thought maybe you had to do something in the back so we pulled the table out then tried using a cord from the channel to the microphone channel and nothing. Mr. Smith was looking at different buttons then realized what he was doing wrong, he did not turn the effects on, so step one: turn it on. Thursday I had received the script for the musical this year, I began going through it. I looked for the number of speaking part to figure out the number of microphones used and also what sound effects are going to be needed within the first act.
Advice
"Even miracles take a little time" the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella.
I had chosen this one because I feel that it is a fair representation that people can heal over time no matter the situation. They can also from from the experience and learn from it.
Advice that will help make make me successful in life from Mr. Smith.
My piece of advice for Mychelle is that she needs to keep on making the right choices. She has shown already in her early years of life that she has been able to make the right choices that benefit her most personally, academically, socially and intellectually. Also, she needs to continue to not accept no as an answer; rather she looks at “no” or “you can’t do that” as a challenge that she can overcome. I love that Mychelle is never afraid to ask questions or for help if she doesn’t know that answer, but she doesn’t stop there, she wants to know why the answer is what it is so she can have a better understanding. Also for Mychelle, she needs to continue to be the good person that she is. Ms. Mason continues to care for others without looking or asking for anything in return. Mychelle is a selfless person that would never come across as selfish or self-serving by any definition of the word. Continue to aim high and expect nothing but the best from yourself and those around you, and you will achieve great things and be surrounded by people doing the same great things you are doing." Mr. Smith.
These words will empower me to grow and learn a lot about myself and also goes to show how others see my hard work, even if I do not always see that it is recognized
