The article called Why “20% Time” is good for schools written by A.J. Juliani. This article was written to explain why not only standardized test and mandatory curriculum is not only what we need in schools. Students should be able to choose what they learn or work on during a school day. Students can show interest in the subject that is being taught to them by showing it in different creative ways. The program allows students use half the day to work on anything they want to do.
In my opinion 20% time is a good thing for many students as they feel their time is being wasted in school. Many would say that this is useless information so why pay attention. With 20% time you can learn in your own way as well as learn something that could benefit yourself. This is a good idea for schools to use to help not focus so much on the way it should be tough or what should be tough more of what the students want to learn. This is a way for people to be able to learn new skills that could help them later in life.
One goal I would like to accomplish this trimester is to learn how to program the light board. I would like to know how to use the cue function as well as the setting the switches. I plan to accomplish this goal by watching Mr. Smith and trying it on my own. I work well with hands on activities and seeing it demonstrated. I would like to be able to lean and be proficient on the basic skills to operate the lights, as well as obtain more knowledgeable skills on the sound board.
